Playing PS1 on PS3
If I am playing a PS1 game on a PS2 or PS3, am I able to save it with a PS2/PS3 mem card?

No you will not be able to save PSOne files on ps2 memory cards, I am not sure about the ps3 hd but I doubt it. You will have to get a PSOne memory card.

Doesn't the PS3 have the option to create an internal PSone card? If so, make one on your HD.

That's the answer. The PS3 doesn't use memory cards for saving game data. For PS and PS2 games, the system fools the games into recognising a "virtual" memory card on the hard disk. It works flawlessly - FFVII on the PS3 FTW.

Yes, the PS3 should have the option to create a virtual "card" on your hard drive.

In your PS3 root menu, go to 'Game', and go to the icon that looks like two memory cards called 'Memory Card Utility (PS/PS2)' and click on it. Click again on the only option given 'New Internal Memory Card', then select 'Internal Memory Card (PS)' from the 2 options given. Name the memory card, and you will have a virtual PS1 memory card.
